Father, Infant Killed In Crash Along Mt. Baker Highway
A father and infant died in a three-car crash along SR 542 on Sunday, according to Washington State Patrol.

DEMING, WA - A father and infant died in a three-car crash along SR 542 on Sunday, according to Washington State Patrol. The mother of the infant, who was in another car, was injured in the crash. The accident blocked all lanes of SR 542 for a brief time on Sunday.
According to KIRO 7, a 24-year-old Bellingham woman was driving a sedan, and her husband and infant son were following behind in a Subaru. A man driving a large SUV crossed the center lane, sideswiped the mother's car, and then hit the Subaru head-on. The mother was injured, but her injuries are apparently non life-threatening. The driver of the SUV was injured.
SR 542 runs from Deming northeast and ends at the Mt. Baker ski area.

State police suspect impairment might be a factor in the crash, although the exact cause is still under investigation.
