FBI Arrests Capital One Hacker's Roommate Over Illegal Guns

SEATTLE, WA — When the FBI raided a Beacon Hill home on Monday to arrest a woman accused of stealing an enormous trove of customer data from Capital One, they also stumbled across a large cache of assault weapons and illegal bump stocks.

Early Monday morning, FBI agents clad in armor and holding assault weapons stormed a tiny home near Benefit Playground to arrest Paige Thompson, the 33-year-old former Amazon worker accused of stealing data on over 100 million Capital One customers.

During the raid, agents found weapons stacked in the homeowner's bedroom. According to the FBI, Park Quan, 66, had around 20 AR-15 and AK-47-style assault weapons, plus handguns, bump stocks, and fake grenades.

The agents arrested Quan on a charge of illegal weapons possession — he has felony convictions from Washington and Texas for possessing explosives and an unregistered machine gun. Washington outlawed bump stocks in 2018.

Quan is set to appear in federal court in Seattle on Aug. 1 to face separate charges. Thompson is facing a computer fraud charge, which carries a sentence of up to five years in prison, and her next court date has been postponed until Aug. 15.
