Photos: Fire Damages Building Near Pike Place Market
The was first reported near 3 p.m. Thursday in downtown Seattle.
SEATTLE, WA - A two-alarm fire broke out Thursday afternoon in a building along 1st Avenue one block east of Pike Place Market. The fire department reported that there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The fire was first reported around 2:53 p.m. The fire began on the third floor of a three-story masonry building that backs up to Post Alley, about mid-block between Virginia and Stewart streets. Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub is located in the bottom of the building along Post Alley.
The fire mainly affected the upper floors of the building, which the fire department said were empty.

As of 4 p.m., the fire was out, although firefighters were still at the scene working inside the building. First Avenue was closed in both directions between Pike and Virginia streets for several hours.
The department is still investigating what caused the fire.
