Northbound SR 509 Reopens After Fire Response
A fire sent smoke billowing into the sky Tuesday morning and forced the closure of northbound State Route 509.

SEATTLE — All northbound lanes of State Route 509 were blocked Tuesday morning due to a nearby house fire, with black smoke visible for miles. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the fire broke out shortly after an earlier crash near South Cloverdale Street just before 10 a.m.
The closure remained in place at 11 a.m. while emergency crews worked in the area, and crews were able to reopen the left lane shortly before 11:30 a.m. All lanes were cleared for normal traffic just a few minutes after noon.
