Fire Devastates Popular Seattle Restaurant Agua Verde

The building housing Agua Verde and a paddle board club were heavily damaged in a fire early Saturday morning.

SEATTLE, WA - A fire broke out early Saturday morning in the building that houses the popular Agua Verde restaurant on Portage Bay. The fire was reported at 4:17 a.m. Saturday, according to Seattle fire, and crews arrived to find the building engulfed in flames.

According to the department, the fire started on the deck outside the restaurant and then spread to the main building. In addition to the restaurant, Agua Verde also operates a paddle board club at its 1303 Northeast Boat Street location.

The department ruled the cause of the fire undetermined, and reported that the fire caused about $60,000 in damage to the building and another $5,000 in damage to property inside the restaurant.

Agua Verde has been operating at the Boat Street location for more than 17 years, and is famous for its patio views.
