First Fall Storm To Hit Puget Sound This Week

Heavy rain, flooding, wind? Autumn's first storm is coming this week, according to forecasts.

SEATTLE, WA - You knew this was coming. The first serious storm of the fall season will hit Puget Sound this week. As usual, that means heavy rain, wind, flooding, and leaves blocking your local storm drain.

Forecasts show the storm moving in Monday night, but the heaviest rain will fall mid-week. This rainy-windy weather pattern is supposed to last through the weekend.

"While it appears that a very heavy rainfall event will occur over or near the area midweek, forecast models are showing variability on the timing of the rain and the location of the flood-producing rainfall," a statement from the National Weather Service says about the storm. "Fall leaves and locally heavy rainfall rates will give the threat of street flooding at times in urban areas late Tuesday night through Thursday morning. Water accumulation during the event can be alleviated by keeping storm drains clear of leaf litter, clutter and debris."
