First Photos Of Baby Giraffe Born At Woodland Park Zoo
The giraffe was born around 5 a.m. Thursday to parents Olivia and Dave.
SEATTLE, WA — Woodland Park Zoo welcomed a new baby giraffe into the world on Thursday. The boy was born to Olivia, a 12-year-old giraffe who last gave birth in 2017, and Dave, a 6-year-old first-time dad.
The baby giraffe was born near 5 a.m. Thursday, although it's hard to call him a "baby." Giraffes are around 6 feet tall when they're born, and they're able to run around just a few hours after birth.
It will be a few months before the baby boy is on display for the public, but you can watch him via webcam here. The zoo also plans to launch a naming contest soon

"Baby giraffes have a magical way of touching the hearts and minds of people, no matter how old you are. We hope everyone connects again with this new baby and comes to care about saving giraffes in their natural ranges in Africa. We want everyone to care about giraffes as much as we do," Woodland Park's mammal curator Martin Ramirez said in a statement.
