First Snow Of 2017 Hits Puget Sound, But Most See Rain

If you live on a hill, you probably woke up to some wet snow. If you don't, you probably just saw regular old rain.

SEATTLE, WA - Some people living at higher elevations awoke Friday morning to a dusting of slushy snow. The snow stuck to cars and lawns because roads and sidewalks are still too warm, the National Weather Service said. The snow level was down to about 200 feet as precipitation rolled through the region around 5 a.m.

Local residents reported snow from Allyn to SeaTac to Cougar Mountain. Snoqualmie Pass got hit overnight, too, but roadways were clear and wet Friday morning with no travel restrictions.

And according to the National Weather Service, there's a chance for more lowland snow Saturday. Chances are still "marginal," according to NWS, and accumulations will likely be well north of the Seattle area. Whether snow happens or not, rain will continue through the weekend with a brief dry period on Saturday.
