Founder of Brightmont Academy Moves to Support College Students
Ruth Wilson, founder of the innovative one-to-one school Brightmont Academy, steps down to launch private practice serving college students

Ruth Wilson founded Brightmont Academy, an innovative accredited private school that uses a one-to-one instruction model exclusively, in Seattle back in September of 1999. By pairing one teacher with one student throughout every learning session, the education program can be customized to fit each individual student. Wilson scaled the program in Washington State, opening additional campuses in Bellevue and Sammamish. Today, Brightmont has 4 Washington locations, including Seattle in the Northgate area, Sammamish Plateau, Redmond in Redmond Town Center, and the newest campus nationwide, Woodinville.
The concept of one-to-one instruction has always been well received by the community. Brightmont Academy has been celebrated as an effective and innovative model that achieves success with a wide range of students and was featured by EdChoice, This Flexible, Customized Education Model Will Change Your Perception of Private Schools. Brightmont Academy has continued to grow and currently operates a total of 11 campuses in Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington State.
Wilson is a certified principal and board certified educational therapist, and holds a master's degree in education. She is recognized as a public speaker and author of the Brightmont blog as well as a guest blogger who shares strategies to accommodate all student learning needs and tips to navigate high school graduation requirements. As a female founder of a successful business model, Wilson is also recognized as an entrepreneur and leader within the education sector.

After many years dedicated to helping students earn a high school diploma, Wilson now intends to focus on improving success rates at the post-secondary level. She is stepping away from Brightmont Academy in February of 2018 to launch a new organization to assist college students with solving the academic, personal, financial, and emotional issues that often become barriers to completing college. While there are many supports available to help students gain admission to college, too frequently, they flounder once there and college completion rates are surprisingly low.
Since the inception of Brightmont 18 years ago, Wilson celebrates multiple achievements, most notably helping over 4,000 students experience success, earn diplomas, complete credits, and master new skills through mastery-based instruction.

"It has been my great honor to serve thousands of students and to work alongside other professionals, all dedicated to improving the education, health, and aspirations of a young person. The incredible life-changing results achieved at Brightmont can be directly attributed to the all of the people working tirelessly behind the scenes," says Wilson.
There is a reception on February 7, 2018, to honor Ruth's legacy at Brightmont Academy. Those who have been a part of the Brightmont family as a student, parent, staff, collaborating professional, or community partner are invited to join the celebration in Seattle.
