Free Pizza Slices At Pagliacci Thursday

The local pizza chain's original University District location is closing, so they're giving away free pizza.

SEATTLE, WA - An icon of Seattle's pizza scene will turn off its ovens for good on Thursday. The original Pagliacci Pizza restaurant along University Way Northeast will give away free slices of pizza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate - or mourn.

According to Pagliacci co-owner Matt Galvin, The Ave store is closing because the chain is "focused on growing our locations that offer slices, dine-in seating and delivery."

The Pagliacci on The Ave opened in 1979, decades before places like Delancey and Bar Del Corso brought fancy pizza to Seattle.

But, of course, Pagliazzi grew out of its U-District home. The chain operates 22 locations in Seattle and on the Eastside - plus three locations on the University of Washington campus.
