Fund Set Up After UW Student's Mother Killed In Explosion

Ildiko Krajnyak, 48, died Tuesday after an intentional explosion at her workplace.

SEATTLE, WA - A University of Washington student's mother was killed earlier this week in a suspicious explosion at her workplace in California, and friends and family have set up a fundraiser to get home to his mother's funeral.

Ildiko Krajnyak, 48, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., died when a bomb exploded in the Magyar Kometika salon in Aliso Viejo, which is southeast of Los Angeles. The fundraiser will benefit her son, Keanu Laszlo Vestil, so that he can travel back to California and pay for a memorial service.

Actor Stephen Beal, a resident of Long Beach, Calif., was arrested after FBI served search warrants at his home following the explosion. He has not been charged in the homicide of Ildiko Krajnyak as of Friday. He returns to court for bail hearing Monday, according to the Department of Justice.

The FBI, ATF, Homeland Security and Orange County Sheriff's Office are all investigating the case. As of Friday, Carrie Braun, spokeswoman for the OCSD, said investigators are continuing to follow leads regarding Beal's connection in the Aliso Viejo homicide. "(All agencies) will continue to investigate this case to bring justice to Ildiko's family," Braun said.

As of Friday, the GoFundMe fundraiser for Vestil, a UW math student, was about $6,000 shy of its $25,000 goal.
