Galley Service Returns To Some Washington Ferry Routes

Food and beverage sales resumed on a limited number of ferry galleys Wednesday morning, including service to Bainbridge Island and Kingston.

SEATTLE — Galley service resumed on certain ferry routes Wednesday morning, returning food and beverage sales to a limited number of vessels, which were shuttered since the early days of the pandemic. A spokesperson for Washington State Ferries described Wednesday's step forward as a "soft launch," reopening galleys to riders along a handful of routes.

Here are the routes with galley service as of April 13:

Bremerton routes

  • 6:15 a.m. - 8:15 p.m. daily.

Bainbridge Island (M/V Wenatachee only)

  • Monday - Friday: 4:45 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:15 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Kingston routes

  • Monday - Friday: 4:45 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 6:25 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Anacortes routes

  • Vessel #2
    • Monday - Thursday: 4:15 a.m. - 8:15 p.m.
    • Friday: 4:15 a.m. - 10:15 p.m.
    • Saturday: 7:45 a.m. - 10:15 p.m.
    • Sunday: 7:45 a.m. - 7:15 p.m.
  • Vessel #3
    • 6:15 a.m. - 8:15 p.m. daily.

The ferry system's lead vendor, Sodexo Live!, shared a list of new and returning Pacific Northwest favorites that are part of the reopening and said the top priority is reopening service safely and ensuring compliance with food safety protocols and other requirements as they work to scale operations back to normal.

The galleys will also offer a rotating selection of Northwest beers and wines, provided by:
