SEATTLE, WA — Baby giraffe watch 2019 is underway in Puget Sound.
Olivia, 12, a pregnant giraffe at Woodland Park Zoo, is showing signs of labor, according to zoo officials. She's expected to give birth by the end of April at the latest.
"We’re definitely seeing signs of Olivia nearing labor — we think she’ll give birth any day now," zoo lead animal keeper Katie Ahl said in a statement. "She’s more restless, there are noticeable changes in her udder, and she’s extending her tail and spreading her rear legs frequently. In addition, she and the expectant father, Dave, are showing more affectionate behavior toward one another, a telltale sign of hormonal changes occurring in the expectant mom."

The world fell in love with baby giraffes in 2017, when Animal Adventure Park near Binghampton, N.Y., life-streamed giraffe mom April during labor. About a million people watched April give birth (in the month of April, by the way).
Oliva's birth will be a little more private. There won't be a live-stream, but you can follow along on the zoo's website here. You can also use the hashtag #HaveYouHerd to search for birth news on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

This will be Olivia's second birth. Her sister, Tufani, gave birth to a calf named Lulu in 2017.
