Hazardous Weather Moving Into Puget Sound Sunday

Some areas of Puget Sound could see gusts up to 50 MPH and a higher risk of landslides.

SEATTLE, WA - The National Weather Service is warning of heightened landslide danger and high winds as a storm moves through the Puget Sound area Sunday. Previous storms this week have saturated the soil, destabilizing trees and hillsides, according to meteorologists.

"Over the past few weeks, heavy rainfall brought increased soil moisture to Western Washington with notable events over the past week. Another wet and warm weather system will arrive tonight and Sunday but will not bring as much rainfall as the previous two systems. However, the rain will maintain the heightened threat of landslides through this weekend and could act to trigger a landslide or two," reads a special weather statement issued for Puget Sound Saturday.

Winds will be higher north of Everett, with gusts up to 50 MPH possible. Seattle and the south sound area could see gusts up to 40 MPH, according to the weather service.
