Every passionate hiker has their favorite local spots and the trails that are hours away. Every hiking destination is unique with their own beautiful views, winding trails and level of difficulty. All around the world there is a new hiking destination waiting to be explored. Take a look a the top hiking destinations to trek:
Annapurna Circuit
Since 1977, hikers from all around the world have traveled to Annapurna Circuit. The ancient trade route is known for its breathtaking scenery. With between 100 and 145 miles of trail, the hike can take up to 25 days. All along the route hikers will find cheap hotels to stay in so there is no need to bring camping supplies. If you’re planning a visit, look forward to the near altitude of 18,000 feet at Thorung La summit pass and the beautiful views from Poon Hill.

Inca Trail
For a shorter hike, head over to Peru. The four-day hike along Inca Trail includes 26 miles of extreme inclines and declines. Known as one of the most popular places to hike in the world, the trail offers hikers the chance to explore ancient ruins and the vast, surrounding jungle. But that’s not what everyone comes to the Inca Trail for.At the end of the hike, you will find Machu Picchu. Be sure to add this to your bucket list.

Kungsleden (The King's Trail)
During the summer, take a trip to Northern Sweden to hike Kungsleden, also known as The King’s Trail. Along the 275-mile trail is beautiful wilderness and nothing but sunshine. Between April and the first part of May, the sun is shining nearly every hour of the day. The trail is a life-changing experience that begins in the village of Abisko and ends in Hemavan. Along the trail hikers will also find rustic cabins for them to stay in with a few reindeer to spot.
Appalachian Trail
In the United States, another famous destination for hiking is the Appalachian Trail. The trail can falls between Georgia and Maine, with over 2,000 miles to trek. The hike will take between 5 and 7 months to walk, and is not for the faint of heart. Year round hikers from all over try to complete the trail from start to finish. Known as one of the longest continuously marked footpath, this hike requires planning and careful execution to safely complete.
Camino de Santiago
Across the ocean in Europe, hikers are encouraged to explore the The Way of St. James. Once a Christian pilgrimages during medieval times, it is now a beacon for hikers from all around the world. Now called Camino de Santiago, the trail stretches over 500 miles of beautiful scenery. The trail is quite crowded during the summer months, but hikers will find solitude during the off-season. Hikers will also find a very unique feature along this trail--a completely functional fountain of wine.
