Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian In Downtown Seattle

Seattle police are looking for a silver SUV in connection to the collision.

SEATTLE, WA - A pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver in downtown Seattle early Thursday morning, according to Seattle police. The collision happened near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Columbia Street at around 12:30 a.m.

The driver fled the scene, Seattle police said, and may have been driving a silver Toyota 4Runner SUV. The vehicle likely has front-end damage, police say.

According to WSDOT figures released in mid-2018, pedestrian deaths were on the rise statewide. One-hundred and nine pedestrians died in 2017, a five-year high. According to the latest figures from SDOT, 19 pedestrians died in Seattle in 2017, one less than in 2016.
