I-90 Lane Closures This Weekend Coincide With Big Events

Traffic in Seattle this weekend might be a little crazy with I-90 lane restrictions and a number of big events.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the Sounders and Mariners game are both on Sunday.

SEATTLE, WA - The second-to-last weekend I-90 closure to add HOV lanes to the highway will occur this weekend. As usual, the closure begins Friday at 11 p.m. and ends Monday at 5 a.m. This weekend's closure will affect eastbound lanes beginning in Seattle at Rainier Avenue, where traffic will drop to one lane and be funneled onto the express lanes until Bellevue.

This weekend's closures, however, fall during a particularly busy weekend. There's a Sounders game at noon on Saturday, and a Mariners game on Saturday night at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Mariners game starts at 1:10 p.m. Close to 100,000 people will be in the stadium area for those games, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

Also this weekend: The Montlake Bridge will be closed on Saturday between noon and 4 p.m. for the opening day of boating season. Many people use SR 520 during I-90 restrictions, and so the Montlake closure might affect traffic in UW area.

Other events that might impact traffic this weekend:
