Identity Of Woman Killed In Crash At Seattle Assisted Living Home Released

The 72-year-old woman died Tuesday in Seattle's Meadowbrook neighborhood.

SEATTLE, WA - The woman who died this week after a car crashed into an assisted living home has been identified. The accident happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the Meadowbrook neighborhood, just south of Lake City. The home is located near the intersection of 38th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 107th Street.

Lavonne Bennett, 72, died of blunt force injury to the torso with compressive asphyxia, according to the King County medical examiner. Bennett's death was ruled accidental.

Bennett was sitting in a recliner in her bedroom on the first floor of the assisted living home around 11 a.m. Tuesday when a 2004 Mercedes sedan driven by an 88-year-old woman crashed through the wall, pinning Bennett underneath.

Seattle police investigators evaluated the 88-year-old at the scene, but did not find any evidence that she was intoxicated. Detectives were investigating what caused the crash.
