Immunization Records Incomplete For Hundreds Of Seattle Students
Seattle Schools said more than 900 students still lacked complete immunization records ahead of a Wednesday deadline.
SEATTLE, WA — More than 900 students are still out of compliance with updated state immunization laws ahead of a Wednesday deadline, according to Seattle Public Schools. The school district said it has processed more than 6,000 updated immunization records since June 2019, but 982 still required updates by Tuesday. Students whose Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccination status have not been confirmed will be excluded from class.
Seattle Public Schools said students with out-of-date or missing records should be kept home from school until they are fully vaccinated. Students who arrive at school out of compliance will be moved to a designated area until a family member can pick them up.
Students can attend class when they are fully vaccinated or can provide proof they have an appointment to do so. Exceptions can be made if lab work proves immunity to diseases or the student has a Certificate of Exemption. A law passed by state lawmakers in 2019 removed "personal or philosophical" exemptions related to the MMR vaccine after measles outbreaks sickened 87 people in Washington.
