Inslee Executive Order On Vaping Expected Friday
Governor Jay Inslee will announce the action at 11 a.m. in Seattle.
SEATTLE, WA — Gov. Jay Inslee will announce an executive order related to vaping at a Friday morning press conference. Inslee's office says the governor will be joined by the head of the State Department of Health and the director of Washington's Liquor and Cannabis Board. Other state and local leaders are expected to attend.
The announcement follows hundreds of severe lung illnesses, reported nationally and here in Washington, that health officials have linked to vaping. This week, The Seattle Times reported a Puyallup tribal officer also filed the state's first vaping-related lawsuit. Back in August, King County Public Health issued an alert over the use of vaping products.
Gov. Inslee's office has not said exactly what the executive order will entail, but leaders locally and nationally have expressed support for banning the sale of flavored vape liquid. The speech will be broadcast on TVW at 11 a.m from the King County Executive's office in Seattle.
