It's Going To Be Bad: US 2, I-5 Closures This Weekend
Take last weekend's I-5 closures in Seattle and add a full closure of a stretch of U.S. 2 in Snohomish County.

SEATTLE, WA - If you can help it, don't drive north of I-90 this weekend. If you live north of I-90, maybe just don't drive.
Two major road construction projects will reduce lanes or close whole stretches of highway in Seattle and Everett. The Revive I-5 reconstruction project will be back in the downtown Seattle area. On top of that, there will be a full closure of the westbound lanes of U.S. 2.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, construction crews will close the westbound lanes of U.S. 2 between SR 204 and 51st Avenue - that's about half the span between I-5 and SR 204. Drivers will not be able to access westbound U.S. 2 from SR 204. Construction crews will be repaving the roadway.

At at the same time about 30 miles south in Seattle, construction crews will be working on 7-mile stretch of I-5 between the West Seattle Bridge and the Northeast 45th Street exit near the University District. The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Friday.

WSDOT is advising drivers to take public transportation (Sound Transit is running Sounder trains for Mariners games) and expect heavier traffic on other highways like I-405 and SR 99.
