Labor Day Weekend Forecast: Clouds, Rain And Sunshine
Puget Sound forecasters expect a cloudy start to the long weekend, with a chance for some showers, but the sunshine should return by Monday.

SEATTLE — The long holiday weekend forecast has a little bit of everything, with forecasters expecting weekend clouds and a few rain showers ahead of a sunny and mild Labor Day. Saturday is likely to be the warmest of the group, even as a cold front moves into the region. Saturday night will bring the best chance for showers across Puget Sound.
"A cold front will be approaching Saturday giving way to increasingly cloudy skies," wrote Mary Butwin, a meteorologist at NWS Seattle. "Rain showers are not expected until later day and will generally be light. The coast as well as the Olympics and North/Central Cascades will see the greatest amount of precipitation with a few tenths of an inch possible. Drizzle and mist are more likely for the lower elevations as well as the Southern Cascades."
Forecasters said a little rain may linger into early Sunday morning, while increased cloud cover and more humid air are likely to keep temperatures on the warmer side Saturday night.

Changing conditions late in the weekend should lay the groundwork for a sunnier Labor Day, with pleasant afternoon temperatures forecast to peak in the low-to-mid 70s. Things should warm a bit more on Tuesday, ahead of some uncertainty surrounding what to expect mid-week. Long-term models suggest more significant rainfall and, potentially, a few thunderstorms.
"The bigger question in the long term will be the system that is expected to move through Wednesday," Butwin wrote. "This system has the chance of bringing in some more widespread rain to the region. There is the chance of some convection as the low approaches the west coast, but models are still suggesting that any storms forming will be to our south."
