Large Protest At SeaTac Detention Center On Saturday

Demonstrators will gather outside the SeaTac federal detention center to protest the Trump "zero tolerance" immigration policy.

SEATAC, WA - There's a large protest planned Saturday outside a federal detention center near Sea-Tac Airport. Protesters will gather beginning at 11 a.m. to denounce the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward immigrants, including separating children from parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Nearly 2,000 people have pledged to go, and another 4,000 are interested in going, according to the event's Facebook page. The SeaTac demonstration is part of a coordinated nationwide mass-action with a main protest planned for Washington, DC.

The protests were planned in response to the Trump administration policy of separating children from their parents at the Mexico-U.S. border, although that policy has been rescinded. A handful of women who had been separated from their children were locked up at the SeaTac facility.
