Lorena González Not Running For Seattle Mayor

There's been a lot of news about people running for Seattle mayor recently. Here's one person who isn't.

SEATTLE, WA - Here's one person who's not running for Seattle mayor: At-Large Councilwoman Lorena González. There had been speculation that González would run for Seattle Mayor Ed Murray's seat; she formerly worked for him as legal counsel. Instead, González filed paperwork to seek another term on City Council.

"After speaking with my family and much consideration, I have decided to not enter the Seattle mayor's race in 2017," González wrote in a press release. "While being the mayor of Seattle would be an incredible honor, I remain focused on the work we have yet to accomplish on the Seattle City Council."

González said that she wants to work on immigrants rights, housing affordability, and police reform as a member of the City Council.
