MacKenzie Scott Marries Seattle School Teacher
Seattle philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has remarried, roughly two years after separating from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

SEATTLE — Two years after her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott recently married Seattle science teacher Dan Jewett.
The Associated Press reports Jewett taught chemistry at the Lakeside School in Seattle, a top-rated private school where Scott's children attended, and which counts Bill Gates among its alumni.
Scott and Jewett formally announced their marriage over the weekend in a letter posted on the Giving Pledge website. The organization consists of 40 American billionaires, including Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, each committing to "give the majority of their wealth to address some of society's most pressing problems." Scott signed the pledge in 2019.

A statement dated March 6 signed by Dan Jewett reads in part:
"It is strange to be writing a letter indicating I plan to give away the majority of my wealth during my lifetime, as I have never sought to gather the kind of wealth required to feel like saying such a thing would have particular meaning. I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me. This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds—from time, to energy, to material possessions—when I have had them to give. And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know—and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others."
Scott is one of the richest people in the world, with a 4 percent stake in Amazon and an estimated net worth of more than $50 billion. Last December, she announced more than $4 billion given to 384 organizations in just four months, including some in the Seattle area.
