'Major' Lawsuit Over ICE Detentions Coming Wednesday: Ferguson

Attorney General Bob Ferguson will announce a lawsuit Wednesday targeting a national company that he says exposed residents to arrest.

SEATTLE, WA - Attorney General Bob Ferguson will announce a new lawsuit Wednesday against a "national company" over consumer privacy violations. Ferguson says the company unlawfully released information about state residents, exposing them to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention.

Ferguson says the privacy violations affects "thousands" of Washington residents. Ferguson has indicated he will sue under the state's consumer protection law.

Details of the suit, including the company he's suing, will be released Wednesday at 11 a.m., according to Ferguson's office.

Ferguson has announced a number of lawsuits over the past year, many targeting the administration of President Donald Trump.

Late in 2017, Ferguson sued the Bellevue-based Value Village thrift store chain alleging that it deceives consumers into thinking that the company is a nonprofit. Ferguson also recently sued two Massachusetts men for selling a "get rich quick" scheme related to Amazon.
