122-Year-Old Puget Sound Rain Record Broken, National Weather Service Says
The Seattle area has broken a major rain record - but you probably already knew that.

SEATTLE, WA - Way out on the Olympic Peninsula near Forks, the Quillayute Airport on Sunday measured an amazing amount of rainfall. Over that 24-hour period, 1.23 inches of rain fell at the airport. That's equivalent to more than a foot of snow. That's also a nearly 30-year record for Quillayute.
That amazing event at Quillayute provides important context for a local rain record we just broke: the National Weather Service says that the Seattle area has measured nearly 45 inches of rain between October and April - that's officially the wettest seven-month stretch on record.
Seattle is now at 44.67 in. of rain since Oct 1st - wettest Oct-Apr on record. Quillayute is approaching 10 FEET of rain since Oct 1. #wawx
