New Starbucks Frappuccino Is The Flavor Of Midnight

Two weeks after unleashing a color-changing "Unicorn" Frappuccino, Starbucks has unveiled its newest creation.

SEATTLE, WA — Two weeks after unleashing a Unicorn-themed drink on the world, Starbucks is out with its newest Frappuccino creation, and this time it's a taste of midnight. The Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino joined the coffee chain's blended beverage lineup on Tuesday. The company says the drink was "inspired by thoughts of dark starry nights, looking up at the sky with a cool summer breeze.”

The drink is the color of dark chocolate but features a band of whipped cream in the middle. Starbucks says the "extra-dark" cocoa is blended with milk, ice, and mint sugar crystals. Of course, there's whip cream on top (dusted with more dark cocoa).

Although the drink sounds delicious, as with most delicious things, it comes at a high nutritional cost. According to Starbucks, one 16-ounce Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino made with whole milk contains 470 calories, 16 grams of saturated fat and 52 grams of sugar.

Starbucks offers more than 20 Frappuccino drinks, including the S’mores Frappuccino, which returned to the lineup this week.

On April 19, Starbucks launched the "elusive" Unicorn Frappuccino, which magically turned from purple to pink when you stirred it. The drink was only available for about a week due to the short shelf-life of the ingredients.

Perhaps it was for the best that the Unicorn drink was so elusive. A Starbucks barista in Colorado pleaded with customers not to buy the drink because of how messy and difficult it was to make.

"My hands are completely sticky. I have unicorn crap all in my hair and on my nose. I have never been so stressed out in my entire life," Braden Burson, 19, said in a rant about the drink posted on YouTube.
