Olympia Physical Therapist to Present at Orlando Conference

Emily Novoa has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists' Annual Conference on Oct. 26.

Physical Therapist Emily Novoa has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 26. Novoa practices at Providence Tumwater Valley Physical Therapy, located at 4833 Tumwater Valley Drive SE, Suite 150.

Novoa will deliver a presentation entitled “Optimization of treatment: A look at a more efficient way to treat the subtalar complex.” The lecture will highlight:

  • A discussion on current subtalar joint techniques and the supporting research.
  • Anatomy review of the subtalar joint and its supporting joint and ligamentous structures.
  • Compensatory and noncompensatory biomechanics of the subtalar joint after an inversion sprain.
  • Mobilization and manipulation techniques for the posterior and anterior aspects of the subtalar joint.

After completing her orthopedic manual therapy residency in Eugene, Oregon, Novoa moved to Olympia, Washington where she is currently completing a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy.
