SEATTLE, WA — The man accused of killing one person and seriously wounding two others during a shooting at the Westlake light rail station on Sept. 13 opened fire amid a crowd of passengers, court documents released Thursday say.

Bryce A. Hardy, 20, was formally charged on Thursday with first-degree murder for killing Dawda Corr, 21. He was also charged with two counts of first-degree assault for seriously wounding Steven Mostajo and Marc Pedraza.

The incident began with a disturbance inside the McDonald's at Pine Street and 3rd Avenue just before 9:30 p.m., court documents say. After that, Hardy ran to the Westlake station ahead of the three victims, who were trying to catch a train.

Once on the platform, Hardy ran up to the victims and started shooting, targeting Corr specifically, charges say.

"The [surveillance] footage also captured several citizens that were waiting for the train running for their safety and hiding behind whatever they could find, such as trash can as benches, and lying on the ground," charges say.

"Hardy appeared to be tracking Corr's movements as he was firing his gun at him, stopping only after Corr collapsed face first to the ground."

When the shooting started, Pedraza got down on the ground and tried to cover his head. He rolled off the platform onto the tracks to escape the shooting. Mostajo was wounded too gravely to escape and fell on the ground with a torn artery in his leg.

Seattle police were able to identify and find Hardy largely due recent crimes on the Eastside. Bellevue police arrested Hardy on Monday at his girlfriend's Lake Sammamish Parkway home.

Hardy is being held on $2 million bail and is set to be arraigned on Oct. 3.
