Pedestrian, 78, Seriously Hurt In Rainier Avenue Crash
The driver hit the woman as she was crossing a crosswalk near South Walden Street, according to Seattle police.

SEATTLE, WA - A 78-year-old woman was hit and seriously injured by a driver as she walked in a crosswalk along Rainier Avenue South Wednesday morning. The incident happened just before 9 a.m. near South Walden Street. Rainier Avenue was blocked for more than an hour following the crash with traffic diverted to neighborhood streets.
The woman was crossing near South Walden Street between the Mt. Baker and Columbia City neighborhoods. A 35-year-old man driving a Lincoln Town Car was making a turn from Walden to head southbound on Rainier when he hit the woman while she was in the crosswalk.
The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Seattle police said.

The driver was evaluated at the scene for impairment, but police said he was not. Seattle police are still investigating the incident.
