SEATTLE, WA —President Donald Trump has had his Twitch account temporarily suspended, according to multiple outlets.

Twitch, which is owned by Amazon, announced Monday it had suspended the president's channel because its broadcast of his recent Tulsa rally, and uploaded footage from the 2016 campaign trail both violated the company's "hateful conduct and harassment" policies.

According to Engadget, Twitch cited Trump's derogative comments about Mexican migrants as the primary issue.

One of the flagged videos included Trump's infamous comments from his 2016 campaign kickoff rally, claiming immigrants bring drugs and crime with them:

"They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us," Trump said. "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Both that video and footage from the Tulsa Rally were both pulled from Twitch's site as the suspension was announced.

Twitch is a video streaming platform primarily used for live streams of video games, but which has grown to include steaming on a variety of topics, including national politics. In the earliest phases of the 2020 election cycle, both Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang launched Twitch channels as a way to reach younger voters online. According to The Verge, Trump's campaign launched his Twitch channel last October. It is unclear how long the president's channel has been suspended or how it could be reinstated.

Twitch's decision to ban Trump's channel comes the same day that Reddit elected to ban one of their largest pro-Trump forums: r/The_Donald. While the forum was not officially affiliated with the Trump campaign like the Twitch channel is, the Reddit page had more than 790,000 users. Reddit told USA TODAY they chose to ban the forum because it was not following their content policies and guidelines. Last year, Reddit temporarily suspended the forum after users posted several threats of violence against public officials and law enforcement.
