Seattle Chase Bank Protest Ends In 14 Arrests

The demonstrators set up tents along 2nd Avenue in front of Chase offices in downtown Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA - A large group of protesters put down stakes in front of the Chase Bank offices in Seattle Monday morning and disrupted traffic almost all day to protest the bank's funding of oil pipelines. The protesters stayed in front of the Chase offices in the Russell Investments Center building until around 3 p.m.

The protesters from the group 350 Seattle set up in front of the building at 2nd Avenue and Union around 10 a.m. The protest, which sought to draw attention to Chase's financing of oil pipelines, was advertised in advance, and KING 5 published a story about it.

"Instead of reducing their investments in fossil fuels, Chase has doubled down on Tar Sands and Coal. So it's time to #ShutDownChase again. Join 350 Seattle, 350 Eastside, 350 Tacoma, Mazaska Talks, DeFundDAPL, and Protectors of the Salish Sea for a rally and a visit to a Chase branch," the group wrote of the Seattle protest on its website.
