Pyramid Brewing Co. Embraced Earth Day in Ballard
Brewery employees shared time and talent through volunteerism to remove over 700 pieces of trash from Golden Gardens

Pyramid Brewing Co. made a positive contribution to the environment this past Earth Day by volunteering with Surfrider Foundation at Golden Gardens Beach Park in Ballard. 25 brewery employees helped remove over 700 pieces of trash and other debris from the beach, including 83 cans and bottles, 39 plastic bags and 398 cigarette butts, just to name a few
As a triple bottom line company that prioritizes community and environmental stewardship as part of its overall approach to business, this effort is part of Pyramid’s volunteer time-off program where employees are encouraged to volunteer one to two days per year.
“We’re always looking to measure and reduce the environmental impacts we have on our community,” said Robert Rentsch, general manager for Pyramid Brewing Co. “Volunteerism is another way we can protect and steward our natural resources and improve our footprint. Through our volunteer time off program, we pay our employees to help keep our shorelines clean, maintain our nature trails and keep litter and waste out of our neighborhoods.”

Earlier this month Pyramid debuted new branding that is pictographic and shares the story of each brew’s ingredients by paying homage to iconic Pacific Northwest sceneries. Pyramid Brewing Co. was founded in the PNW because of amazing resources like glacial water runoff and flavorful hop varieties produced in the Yakima and Willamette Valleys. Pyramid is embracing its legacy and original purpose to inspire adventure and exploration. Moreover, Pyramid is reaffirming its commitment to explore, celebrate and preserve the best of PNW ingredients and the land that produces them.
“As a brewery, we are measured by our ability to not only brew and sell beer but to also contribute to issues that are important to our communities and connect back to our footprints,” said Rentsch. “Our employees look forward to partnering with organizations that preserve our environment through our volunteer time off program.”
