Rain, A Sunny Thanksgiving & A Shot At Snow: Puget Sound Forecast
Tuesday looks rainy after a record November dry streak, but the Thanksgiving outlook is brighter. Snow levels could take a dive next week.

SEATTLE — After a long break in the action, more familiar fall weather is set to return to Western Washington on Tuesday. Monday marked Seattle's 14th consecutive day without rain, setting a new record for November.
"[W]etter weather is on its way Tuesday as a stronger cold front and trailing trough cut through the region," NWS Seattle wrote Monday. "This will be the first shot at widespread measurable rain in two weeks. The coast will see 0.50-1.00" with around 0.25-0.50" in the interior. The lowlands will be breezy too but high wind is not anticipated with this frontal system."
While it rains in the lowlands, the Cascades should pick up a little more snow, including Snoqualmie and Stevens passes, which could impact travelers hitting the road early for the holiday.

Forecasters expect the rainy turn will be short-lived, allowing for a warmer, drier and mostly sunny Thanksgiving before things get wet again over the weekend. Beyond that, early models are hinting at a chance for snow at lower elevations to close out the month.
The Climate Prediction Center's new outlooks favor below-average temperatures across the West between Nov. 27 and Dec. 1. As the Seattle Weather Blog reports, snow levels may drop under 1,000 feet in about a week, which could bring the region an early taste of winter if everything aligns.

Though forecasters are still firming up the long-range details, the National Weather Service expects a cooler system early next week will drag morning temperatures closer to freezing again.
