South Kaibab Trail
Take in the spectacular scenery of the Grand Canyon on Arizona's South Kaibab Trail. Most of this hike allows trailblazers on the ridge to look across the mesas of the canyon. At 6.5 miles, this hike is recommended for before 10 or after 4 to avoid the heat.

Cottonwood Canyons
Forget the crowded campgrounds and expensive hotels of summer in Snowbird, Utah with a hike through Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. The off-season ski areas provide jutting granite scenery and fields of wildflowers on easy hikes.

One of Utah's Zion National Park's best hikes, Zion Narrows is a 16-mile adventure. It follows the scenic Virgin River into carved slot canyons. Hikers need park service permits for this challenging hike. For an easier hike. stay upstream past Riverside Walk toward Big Spring.

Arizona Trail
This trail in Superior, AZ is to the West what the Appalachian Trail is to the East. That means hikes broken into convenient sections for beginning to intermediate hikers. Go from the ruggedness of the frontier to a relaxed vibe. Head south out of Superior via the Alamo Canyon section into a desert town.

La Quinta Cove
La Quinta CA is located 25 miles southeast of Palm Springs. It's the land of the
Coachella Valley and the Santa Rosa Mountains. Hike among bare granite, desert flora, and sweeping vistas on the 2.5-mile Cove to Lake Trail. For a more challenging walk, take the 7.5-mile Boo Hoff Trail.
