Safeco Field's New Nickname? 'The Cell' Or 'Un-Postseason Field'

T-Mobile might get the naming rights for Safeco Field, according to reports. Here are the nicknames you voted on in our reader poll.

SEATTLE, WA - Last week, Forbes reported that T-Mobile will get the naming rights for Safeco Field for a cool $6 million per year. The Mariners would not confirm the Forbes report, but the prospect of the Bellevue-based cell provider getting involved poses an interesting question.

What should the new field's nickname be?

When the news broke last week, we asked you to vote on a nickname for the field or suggest one. Perhaps the best suggestion was "The Cell," which would complement CenturyLink's nickname, "The Clink." Another good one - a nod to T-Mobile's motto "The Un-carrier" - was the "Un-postseason field."
