Seattle Safeway Shooting: Man Injured In Drive-by Outside Supermarket (Update)

The shooting happened at the Safeway in the Othello neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

SEATTLE, WA - A man suffered gunshot wounds to his cheek and shoulder in a drive-by shooting outside the Safeway supermarket in the Othello neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Seattle police Det. Patrick Michaud said that police arrived to find a 28-year-old man clutching a bloody towel and asking for an ambulance. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that the victim had been in a confrontation with people inside a white or silver sedan. The man was shot as the car pulled out of the parking lot.

Reports indicated - and police confirmed - that the Safeway was damaged by the gunfire.

That Safeway location - just east of Martin Luther King Jr Way South - is open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
