Save the Date for the 2019 Seattle LUNG FORCE Walk
Help save lives and support those affected by the No. 1 cancer killer in the U.S.

On June 29, 2019, the American Lung Association in Washington will host its annual LUNG FORCE Walk to support the millions affected by lung disease.
Lung Cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of men and women in the U.S., and this walk saves lives by funding lung cancer research and providing those impacted by lung cancer with resources, assistance and community. The walk kicks off at 9 a.m. on June 29, 2019 at Jefferson Park, located at 3801 Beacon Ave S in Seattle.
“Every five minutes, a woman in the U.S. is told that she has lung cancer,” said Season Oltmann, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Washington. “Anyone can get lung cancer, yet it’s not on many people’s radar. We invite everyone in Washington to join us in standing up to lung cancer and making a difference for those affected with lung disease. “

Here in Washington, more than 4,800 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2018. Lung cancer has one of the lowest survival rates compared to other major cancers, so early detection and treatment is key to saving lives. Locally and across the nation, LUNG FORCE educates and empowers patients and healthcare providers, and also raises critical funds for research into better detection and targeted treatments for lung cancer.
Washington resident Shawna Ziegler lost her mother to lung cancer in 2015 and is dedicated to helping those affected by the disease and raising funds to find a cure.

“Victory for me will be continuing to honor my mother and be her voice,” said Ziegler. “I think of those who have lost the battle like my mother and of those who fight fearlessly every day. Together we can raise awareness everywhere. It is too late for my mom, but it isn’t too late for all those people out there whose life is affected every day.”
