Seahawks Fire Quarterback Accused Of Domestic Assault

Police in Texas are investigating after quarterback Trevone Boykin allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

MANSFIELD, TX - Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin is under investigation in Texas for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, according to reports. Boykin was re-signed by the Seahawks on Jan. 2 to a reserve contract, but the team released him Tuesday morning.

Boykin allegedly left his girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, with a "broken jaw swollen and wired shut," according to the TV station WFAA. An investigation into the incident is being handled by police in Mansfield, Texas.

The assault happened after Boykin allegedly demanded to see a text message on Bailey's phone.

"So he goes into a choke. I remember him choking me and I'm trying to calm him down. And I just couldn't. And I blacked out. I just couldn't calm him down at all,” she told WFAA.

Boykin joined the Seahawks in 2016 after playing for Texas Christian University. He was Russell Wilson's main backup over the 2016 season, but lost that spot in the 2017 season to Austin Davis.
