Seattle Area Construction Worker Strike Ends

Construction workers who operate heavy machinery at projects around Puget Sound went back to work Friday.

SEATTLE, WA - Construction workers on strike in the Seattle area were set to return to work Friday after their union reached a tentative labor agreement with contractors. Details of the agreement were not immediately available.

"A 3rd Tentative Agreement was reached for the Western WA Master Labor Agreement, and members are to stand down on all picketing actions and return to regular work status effective tomorrow, September 7th," the IUOE 302 union wrote in an update.

The strike began on Aug. 21 when construction workers across the Seattle area walked off the job. The IUOE 302 represents construction workers that operate heavy machinery, like cranes and backhoes. The strike affected many projects in downtown Seattle, but also projects in Kirkland and Redmond.
