Seattle Art Gallery Hosts Roth And Hughto Exhibit
The two noted artists are showing their work on the West Coast for the first time.
SEATTLE, WA - The works of Darryl Hughto and Susan Roth, two museum-collected and renowned artists, are on display for the first time on the West Coast at Frederick Holmes and Company Gallery. The exhibition, titled "A Half Century of Colorfield Action Painting," will be up until the end of this month. Schulte Fine Art, which is co-sponsoring the show, specializes in post-war American abstraction with an emphasis on colorfield painting.
Roth and Hughto are New York-based artists. The pair represents two of the most-critically acclaimed artists who, beginning in the 1970s, became part of the colorfield and action painting movement, according to the gallery's website. This exhibition will include Hughto’s critically aclaimed “diamond” paintings from the 1970s along with his most-recent work, “sailboats.”
Roth's early work will also be featured along with her more recent innovative abstract paintings. Roth and Hughto's work has been highlighted in permanent museum collections throughout the U.S. and Europe, including the Boston Museum of Fine Art and the Portland Art Museum.
