Embattled Seattle City Light CEO Larry Weis Resigns
Weiss was selected to lead Seattle City Light in 2015 by former mayor Ed Murray.

SEATTLE, WA - Mayor Jenny Durkan announced Monday morning during a press conference that she has accepted the resignation of Seattle City Light CEO Larry Weis. Weis was nominated to lead the power utility in 2015 by former mayor Ed Murray.
Weis came to Seattle from a utility in Austin, Texas. He earned $340,000 per year, the highest paid Seattle city employee. Durkan made the announcement during a press conference Monday on the resignation of Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole.
Durkan said the city would mount a nationwide search for Weis' replacement.

Weis has had a rocky term at city light. The Stranger recently revealed ongoing sexual harassment problems at the utility. The Seattle Times revealed last year Weis was under investigation in Austin over a workplace incident while he was being confirmed as Seattle City Light chief.
On top of that, the City Council had sought to withhold Weis' annual bonus, and recent glitches at SCL caused thousands of customers getting huge bills.
