Seattle Fire Department Reveals Cause Of Fatal RV Fire

SEATTLE, WA - The fire department believes that a fatal RV fire that happened last week was caused by smoking materials that ignited a couch.

The fire broke out around 3:20 a.m. on Jan. 5, according to the fire department, underneath the Spokane Street Viaduct near the intersection of 1st Avenue South. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was pouring from the RV. It took them under 10 minutes to get the fire under control.

After putting out the fire, they found a deceased male inside the RV. The department estimated damage to the vehicle at $15,000. They believe the fire broke out accidentally.
