Rainier Beach High School faced closure in 2008 amid declining enrollment. But local parents and teachers vowed to improve the school. They lobbied for new staff and curriculum changes, like adding an International Baccalaureate diploma program (which the school nearly lost in 2016). The school won a Schools of Opportunity award in 2016 for the turnaround.
The show airs at 11 p.m. on Friday, and will be available on-demand after that.
