The Mariners, as we all know too well, had a winning (89-73) season in 2018, but continued the long postseason drought — they haven't been since 2001. The team will be led this year by head coach Scott Servais and familiar faces like Felix Hernandez, Dee Gordon, and Kyle Seager.

The Mariners will have their work cut out for them right away. In case you forgot, the Red Sox won an impressive 108 games and went on to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games to win the World Series. The Red Sox are the early favorites to win it all again in 2019, according to the odds-aggregating site Oddschecker.com. Bookmakers are giving the Sox a 13 to 15 percent chance of repeating as champions.

The Houston Astros and New York Yankees — both American League teams that reached the playoffs last year and also won at least 100 games — are the next favorites to win it all this year. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the early favorites to win the championship out of the National League. Bookmakers put their odds at between 11 percent and 12 percent.
