Seattle Police Fatally Shoot Man In Lower Queen Anne
Seattle police shot and killed a man in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
SEATTLE, WA — Seattle police fatally shot a man during an emergency response in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. The police department confirmed a shooting investigation at West Mercer Place and Elliot Avenue West shortly after 3:30 p.m. but did not immediately provide further details.

Medics attempted life-saving efforts, but the man died from his injuries at the scene, the Seattle Fire Department told Patch. KOMO News reported no officers were injured during the response.
According to the Seattle Times, police said the man was armed with a knife and had threatened bystanders in the area. Assistant Chief Deanne Nollette told the newspaper officers used less-lethal force before the man was shot. A witness video shared on social media Tuesday night appears to show the man running before several shots are heard.

Tuesday's incident follows a deadly police shooting in Columbia City late last month. Body-worn camera footage showed a SWAT officer responding to a domestic violence call in Columbia City shoot a suspect holding a baby after a brief foot chase. Police said a firearm belonging to the man was recovered nearby, and the infant was uninjured.
