When's the first day of school in Seattle? Plus, other must-know dates for students, parents and teachers.
SEATTLE, WA — The first day of school for Seattle students in the 2019-20 school year is Sept. 4 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP.
The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences. You can see the full school year calendar with notes on important days on the district website.
Here are some dates to know for the 2019-20 school year:

- Sept. 4 — First day of school, grades 1 to 12
- Sept. 9 — First day of kindergarten
- Oct. 11 — In-service day, no school
- Nov. 11 — No school, Veterans Day
- Nov. 25-27 — Elementary conferences, no school K-8
- Nov. 28-29 — Thanksgiving break
- Dec. 20 — Early dismissal for winter break
- Dec. 23-Jan. 3 — Winter break
- Jan. 20 — No school, MLK Day
- Jan. 28 — No school, day in between semesters
- Feb. 17-21 — Mid-winter break
- April 13-17 — Spring break
- May 25 — No school, Memorial Day
- June 18 — Last day of school, one-hour early dismissal
Reminder: Seattle students get out of school 75 minutes early every Wednesday.
