Seattle 'Thrill Killers' Charged In Random Assault Weapon Shootings

The three suspects allegedly used AK-47 and AR-15 assault weapons in a Puget Sound shooting spree.

SEATTLE, WA - Seattle police have arrested three people they believe are responsible for a series of random thrill kill-style shootings in the area - including the shooting of two elderly Seattle residents who were out delivering newspapers in the early morning hours in May 4. In making the arrests, Seattle police also recovered AR-15 and AK-47-style rifles used in the shootings.

The three suspects - two boys ages 17 and 18, and a 23-year-old woman - are now facing charges of assault and weapons possession.

Police believe they are responsible for the following shootings:

April 30: The suspects allegedly fire up to 50 rounds into a home along the 3900 block of South Juneau Street, mistakenly believing that a rival gang member lived there. The resident, a teacher, was unharmed.

May 3: The suspects fire more than two dozen rounds into a car driving along Holly Park Drive South in the New Holly neighborhood. Police believe the victims were targeted randomly, but were unharmed.

May 4: An elderly couple in their 70s are shot by the suspects while driving along Martin Luther King Jr. Way South around 3 a.m. in the Mt. Baker neighborhood. The man was shot in the chest and shoulder, his wife was injured by shattering glass. They were out delivering newspapers.

April 24: Police believe two of the suspects - the 17-year-old and the 23-year-old - use an AK-47 to open fire on a family in Kent. Seattle police noted that prosecutors called the Kent shooting an attempted "thrill killing."

Seattle police also reported on Wednesday that Seattle detectives, working with the Department of Corrections and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, had arrested a wanted felon and seized two guns from him - one with an extended clip.
