Seattle's Annual No Pants Light Rail Ride Is This Weekend

Be prepared. Puget Sound exhibitionists will drop trou on Sunday aboard Sound Transit light rail trains.

SEATTLE, WA - Consider this fair warning, light rail users. The annual no-pants ride aboard Sound Transit light rail trains will happen Sunday.

As in past years, participants will board trains at various stops and take off their pants. The event was started in 2010 by Emerald City Improv, just a few months after the Westlake-to-SeaTac light rail line went into service.

Participants are encouraged to wear modest skivvies during the ride - and that means no g-strings or Speedo-type garments. The goal is to ride pants-free without making a scene, according to organizers.

"The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants," the Facebook event page reads. "The participants behave as if they do not know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves.

"The only unusual thing is their lack of pants."

Sound Transit is only offering one piece of advice for participants: "No pants is no excuse for lack of proper fare."

The event runs 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more details, visit the Facebook event page here.
